In the same way, the narrator believed the old man possessed such a tendinous eye that could terribly harm him by merely looking at him; which he illustrates by saying that his blood ran refrigerant whenever the old mans eye fell upon him. Accordingly, this was the only reason for the murderer to kill the old man since he did not hate him nor he showed any interest in steeling his gold.
